Stepping into the World of Skin Care

I have never been one for skincare or rather it was this foreign concept to me originally. Other than the basic splashing my face with water, didn’t have any sort of skincare routine whatsoever. Whenever I thought of skincare, I immediately thought about the world of makeup as that was when I would hear the mention of skincare the most. But as time went on I learned it was its own thing separate from makeup that one would use to transform into a different person at times or enhancing their natural their beauty features. DISCLAIMER: This is my own experience with skincare, I am no way, shape, or form advising what products you should use for your skin. Everyone’s skin is different and you should consider getting a professional skincare consultant’s advice, I am not an expert.  Skincare was this thing, that would focus on maintaining the health of your skin and making it better. I was first inspired by watching a video of Eric Nam, a K-Pop star who showcased his skincare routine. Alt...

Maids of England 8th Anniversary Pop Up Maid Cafe

Maids of England are a UK based maid cafe, which brings the whole experience of 'maid cafe' from the East and introduces it to the West. The concept of 'maid cafe' is popular in the east especially 'Japan' which is the forefront of fashion, trends, games, anime and more. Maid cafes differ from the stereotypical cafe of just being served by someone and the typical interaction of bringing the food, bill and so on. Maid cafes are different in the way the staff dress in butler/maid attire and who have different personalities that they role-play, this plays on the whole aspect fantasy. This type of cafe introduces something to westerners who are experiencing something, that is not the norm. A few days a go, I bought a ticket to attend the Maids of England pop up cafe at the Bellavita shop. Maids of England are one of many cafes which strongly appeal to a niche consumer base who are interested in Japanese culture or anything 'kawaii'. I first came a...

I Can Do K-Pop Dancing?

K-Pop for those who don't know stands for Korean Pop, it takes a different take on the regular pop music but combining both eastern and western cultures to create this hybrid. Korean Pop music is very popular especially when it comes from boy band/girl bands who are owned by big companies. It has been due to big groups such as BTS (Bangtan Boys) and BLACKPINK that westerners have learned of the existence of K-Pop. That is a short summary of what is K-Pop is in a nutshell, but the next topic is K-Pop dance or better known as K Dance (K-Pop Dance) which take influences from hip hop and commercial dancing, two urbanised dances and creates this super cool hybrid. The thing I love about dance is that it takes bits from other dance styles, transforms them and creates super cool pieces. The first time I saw K-Pop dancing was when I discovered the music from bands like BTS, BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, 4Minute, Big Bang, 2NE1 and countless others. I was amazed by the dancing and wanted to tr...

Negative Guy with Negative Thoughts

There is always that thing inside of us, all of us. You know what I’m talking about. That shadowy figure, a manifestation of all those negative emotions, fear, doubt, anger, frustration, loneliness and sadness. Whenever we feel any of these emotions, it always rears it’s ugly little head. Telling us that we’re worthless, and those thoughts get more deep into our subconscious.  You know it’s funny, I always can be positive towards others but when it comes to me, it’s the opposite. Why do we do this to ourselves? Even the happiest person, can never be 100% happy, they have their episodes and so do we.  I would say there are two ends of the spectrum, one end being people who have these thoughts and talks to someone. The other end are those who have negative thoughts but try to hide it. I would say I lean more to that side. I always tell myself, that these issues are minor, I don’t need to tell someone. Whenever I do want to tell someone, fear grabs hold of me. I do...

Losing A Friend

Its weird, how one day you have this friend who you barely see, but you still see what they've done, achieved and more through their social media. Then the next they're gone, its scary how life can turn upside down like that, its scary how a person who've taught you things, given you advice can be gone the next. Well that happened to me, I'm not asking for pity and I know I am in no way strong and it is alright to cry. Many people go through this and everyday someone else loses someone important to them or as stated in the show The Flash (2015, Directed by Steve Shill, Season 2, Episode. 5) "Everyone loses someone they care about...The real test of character is what you do once they're gone". I may not have been that close with him, I may not have been one of those friends there by his side physically but always been there in spirit. He taught me how it doesn't matter about getting a move done right, but to try my best and have fun. I've watch...

How to Find Happiness in the Darkest of Times

We all go through different struggles throughout our lives whether that be mental, physical, abuse, depression or other. Some of could probably relate and some of could probably only imagine the damage that has been done and is still being done. Even if we can't understand, we will still try whether it be talking directly or simply being there for that person. Lets get to the reason why I'm making this blog post, something which is so sensitive and personal. There have been times I've felt like hating myself, sometimes I've felt that maybe it was a mistake to follow the path I want and should have mindlessly follow what my parents wanted me to be. There have been times when I've cried over feeling like a failure just for some grades. Sometimes its not always easy trying to make it out of the darkness, it always seems to creep up on you when you least expect it and isn't so easy to let you go. It can feel that there is no way out, almost as if it's suffoc...

What Is Harajuku Fashion?

Harajuku fashion. What is it? Why is it so popular? Who can wear it? Where did it come from? All these answers can be answered in this post. Before I get into the whole thing about Harajuku fashion, let me first explain my interest in the subject myself. I have never gone to Japan before but if I had the chance I would love to. My fashion has drastically changed from the norm, sometimes I love to dress in western street fashion with a bit of edgyness to them. However, through my discovery of the Japanese fashion I have started to integrate lighter colours, pastel like looks inspired by Japanese Harajuku fashion. Harajuku is considered a district in Tokyo between Shinjuku and Shibuya and is considered a fashion goldmine for young people who's fashion identity shifts to the alternative side in particular the 'Harajuku fashion'. Harajuku fashion has existed "since early 1980s and became known in the west around 00" and more and more people have adapted to the...
